Obituary of Helen Harris

Helen A. Harris

July 10, 1927 ~ April 12, 2018

Helen A. Harris, 90, Marion, entered Heaven at 6:55 a.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2018. She was born in Anderson, Indiana on July 10, 1927, to the late John and Lena (Foreman) Roberts. On May 7, 1948, she married John M. Harris, who preceded her in death on January 30, 2017.

Helen was a homemaker. She was a member of College Wesleyan Church and loved going to church and Sunday school and tithing to the church and other Christian ministries. Helen had a group of shut-ins she enjoyed reaching out to and looking after. She also enjoyed playing the piano and organ, reading, watching movies and television, collecting Hummel figurines and traveling, and playing games with her family. She was the center of all family events and loved keeping in touch with her grandchildren. Her family was everything to her. Helen felt that her main contribution in life was raising five children who loved the Lord.

She is survived by her children John Steve (Christine) Harris, Holland, Michigan, Greg (Reta) Harris, Indianapolis, Vicki (Phil) Fanara, Westminster, Maryland, and Tim (Dianne) Harris, Marion; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Laura (the late Randy L.) Harris.

In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by her son, Randy L. Harris.

Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Services to celebrate Helen's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at College Wesleyan Church, 200 E. 38th St., Marion, IN. Pastor Alex Mandura will be officiating with burial following at Grant Memorial Park.
