Obituary of Roberta DeBruler
Roberta "Bertie" Ann DeBruler, 67, Marion, died in her home at 9:47 p.m. on Friday, April 6, 2018. She was born in Marion on April 22, 1950, to the late Harold and Lois (Fleshman) DeBruler.
At the time of her passing, Bertie worked at Speedway in South Marion. She enjoyed going to work and loved her co-workers and loved serving the patrons, Sheriff, Marion Police Department, and IWU. Bertie had previously worked at Pipe Creek Animal Shelter and Foster-Forbes, where she was a set-up tech. She also volunteered with her father at St. Martin's Community Center.
Bertie's family was very important to her. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and going to soccer, baseball, and Judo for Drue at Pal Club. She dearly loved her daughter, who was her pride and joy, and had given Byron her blessing for him to marry Andrea. Bertie often reminisced about her mom and would share stories, as well as her mother's reactions, of when she was pregnant with Andrea.
She will be missed by her daughter, Andrea (Byron Weaver) DeBruler, Gas City; grandchildren, Jania Kay DeBruler and Drue Harold DeBruler; sister, Karen (Larry) Cook, Franklin; nieces, Angie (Rich) Buchanan, Amy (Matt) Wilson, Jennifer (Jason Greenbaum) Cook, and Whitney (Josh) Owens; nephew, Shawn (Heather) DeBruler; great-nieces and nephews, Hunter and Lauren Buchanan, Luke and Sophia Wilson, Brianna and Haley Weaver, Jaylen Cook, and Corbin DeBruler; and best friend/Andrea's father, Russell Eugene Cochran.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Wayne DeBruler.
The family will receive visitors from 3 to 5 p.m. with Bertie's funeral service beginning at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park.
