Obituary of Kenneth Welker
Kenneth D. Welker, 67, Marion, passed away in Marion General Hospital at 10:39 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2018. He was born on May 23, 1950, and was the son of the late William and Rosetta (Moon) Welker. On May 18, 2013, Kenneth married Brenda Eddy, and she survives.
Kenneth graduated from Eastbrook High School in 1968 and was a machine repairman at Dana. He was a volunteer EMT for Van Buren and Marion General Hospital, a volunteer EMS for Grant County, and a volunteer firefighter for Van Buren.
Kenneth didn't know a stranger and was very soft-spoken. He loved guns and cars, and his pride and joy was his 1965 Shelby Cobra. Kenneth also loved flying radio-controlled helicopters, and he loved to read and grill.
He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda; children, Steve (Diane) Welker, Fort Wayne, Jeremy (Allison) Welker, Indianapolis, Ashley (George Price) Eddy, Marion, and Heather (Cody) Waggoner, Marion; grandchildren, Alex Welker, Erika Welker, and Bailey Waggoner; his dogs, Rascal and Sophie; sister, Connie Fritch, Van Buren; brother, Michael Welker, Van Buren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 p.m. with Kenneth's funeral service beginning at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 18, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. Steve Johnson will be officiating with burial taking place at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 19, 2018, at Grant Memorial Park.
