Obituary of Eugene Spencer
Eugene Spencer, 94, Anderson, went to be with the Lord in his home at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 9, 2018. He was born in Mier on September 9, 1923, to the late Paul and Harriett Spencer. Eugene was preceded in death by his both wives, Phyllis June Quick Spencer and Elizabeth Spencer.
A graduate of Swayzee High School, Eugene proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. Following his military service, he worked at the Marion VA Hospital, where he was a pest exterminator. He was a member of Stony Creek Church of Christ in Noblesville.
Eugene loved to farm, and he especially loved to bowl. He had received many awards and plaques from the leagues he played on. Eugene was a very family-oriented man, who was a calm, kind, gentle, and caring man. He had become a caregiver for several people over the years, including his parents. Eugene had experienced several losses throughout his life, enduring the loss of his two wives, his parents, his infant daughter, Janelle Spencer, and his two boys, Dorwin and Robert Spencer.
He dearly loved his family and will be missed by his daughter-in-law, Lisa Spencer, Anderson; grandchildren, Mike (Stacey) Spencer, Noblesville, Doug (Christine) Spencer, Fishers, Eric (Jong) Spencer, Okinawa, Japan, and Ben (Hilary) Spencer, Whitestown; great-grandchildren, Evan, Connor, Lara, Gavin, and Logan Spencer; and siblings, Jay (Wilma) Spencer, Marion, and Myron (Janet) Spencer, Marion.
The family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. to 12 noon with Eugene's funeral service beginning at 12 noon on Friday, March 16, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Rybolt Chapel, 314 N. Washington St., Swayzee, IN. Burial will follow at Thrailkill Cemetery.
