Obituary of John Golitko
John Golitko, 84, Sweetser, died at 8:06 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2018, in Wesleyan Health Care Center, Marion. He was born in Dembo, Pennsylvania, on May 31, 1933, to the late Adam and Anna (Merva) Golitko. John was married to Stella Ann (Toper) Golitko for 50+ years. She preceded him in death in 2006.
John was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing Bingo.
He is survived by his children, Steve Golitko, Sweetser, John Andrew Golitko, Peru, Valerie Ann Henson, Marion, and Lois Dawn Golitko, Tennessee; grandchildren, Ashley (Dan) Painter, Chris Sanders, Shane Golitko, Chelsea Bowman, Jade Golitko, and Brianna Golitko; great-grandchild, Logan Painter; and nephew, Michael (Judy) Golitko.
In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by his siblings, Michael Golitko, Frank Golitko, Adam Golitko, and Helen Shashura.
The family will receive visitors from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
A funeral service to celebrate John's life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at the funeral home with Pastor Dave Turner officiating. Burial will be at the Marion National Cemetery.
