Obituary of James Black
James F. “Jim” Black, 84, Swayzee, died at 8:51 a.m., Tuesday, November 3, 2015. He was born in Marion, Indiana to the late Ross and Virginia (Bloomer) Black. He married Harriett "Jeannine" Singer. She survives.
Jim worked as a General Foreman at General Tire retiring in 1974. He enjoyed gardening and loved attending Swayzee Christian Church and Howard Chapel Wesleyan, where he was a member. Jim enjoyed driving his 1959 Rambler in local parades, working on cars, and collecting model cars. He was a man with a great sense of humor and was quite the jokester with everyone. Jim was also a member of “The Singing Singer Sisters and Jim.”
Jim is survived by his wife Jeannine Black; daughters, Kathy (Allen) James, Marion, Linda (Noel) Martin, Swayzee; grandchildren, Weston (Tricia) James, Jill (José) Frias, Julie (Jason) Hale, Ryan (Alex) Martin, Shawn Martin; siblings, Glen Black, Charles Black, Doris (Gene) Jay, Margaret Brown; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his son, Paul Franklin Black; and siblings, Lawrence Black, Paul Black, Grace Stratton, Ellen Black, Phyllis Black, Donna Jean Black, Bob Black, and Jerry Black.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 6, 2015 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Rybolt Chapel, 314 N. Washington St., Swayzee, IN with Rev. John Buckley and Rev. David Stout officiating. Burial will be at Thrailkill Cemetery.
Friends and family may call from 5-7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 5, 2015 at the funeral home and an hour prior to the service on Friday.
