Obituary of Edith Grace Meadors Cummings
Edith Grace Meadors-Cummings, age 87, of Point Isabel, passed away peacefully from her earthly home into the arms of the Heavenly Father on Nov. 25, 2007 at 7:53 a.m. in the home of her loving daughter, Joyce Maggart.
Edith's first husband and father of her six children, William B. Meadors, succumbed to cancer in 1981. Patrick Cummings, her second spouse, passed away in 2004. Edith is survived by her six children, Marilyn (Jerry) Satterthwaite, Aurora, Colo., Nancy VanWinkle, Sweetser, William B. Meadors Jr., Marion, Joyce (Monty) Maggart, Greentown, Grace Anita (Frank) Wiggin, Malakoff, Texas, and Donna (Stan) Barnhart, Mitchell.
She is survived by 12 grandchildren, Sue (Randy) Freitik, Littleton, Colo., Skye (Erik) Dukes, Kokomo, Ean (Angie) VanWinkle, Swayzee, Heather (Jason) Young, Castle Pines, Colo., Daniel (Marcie) Maggart, Lexington, Ky., Josh (Heather) Maggart, Lakewood, Colo., Chris (Brittany) Maggart, Kokomo, Eric Wiggin and Nathan Wiggin, Malakoff, Texas, Hanna Barnhart, Louisville, Ky., Andrew (Meghan) Barnhart, Mitchell, Evan Barnhart, Mitchell. Her nine great-grandchildren, Isabelle and Valerie Freitik, Chloe and Allie VanWinkle, Trent and Nathan Maggart, Michael Stroud, Victoria and Bella Maggart also survive. Edith, one of 17 children, is also survived by a sister, Mary York and a brother, Reams Bryant, both of Ohio.
In addition to her husbands, Edith was preceded in death by her parents, ten brothers, four sisters and a grandson, Clinton Barnhart. Edith's life was devoted to her family, her church, fishing, and gardening. She will be greatly missed and forever loved.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007 in Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Rybolt Chapel, 314 N. Washington St., Swayzee, Ind. with the Rev. Lloyd Hall officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, Huntington County.
