Robert “Jake” Richerson
July 17, 1930 ~ June 10, 2019
Robert “Jake” Richerson, 88, Gas City, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2019, at Wesleyan Health Care Center where he resided for 18 days. He was born to the late Robert and Loiuse (Voland) Richerson on July 17, 1930. He married Laqueita Rose Smith in 1949 and they would have celebrated 70 years of marriage on June 25th.
Jake graduated in the first class of Mississinewa High School after the merge. He worked 36 ½ years at Indiana Bell Telephone Company. He loved deer hunting in Wyoming for 20 years. He built 3 houses where he and Laqueita resided.
He is survived by his wife Laqueita Rose; grandchildren, Sheri (Jeff) Rhoades, Marion, Candace (Brian) Johnson, Thomas (Bekah) Timmer, Little Rock, AR, Tony Speakman, Newport, Arkansas; great-grandchildren, Audrey, Katherine, Hailey, Aaron, Nate; sister, Patty (Val) McGlothin, Gas City; brother-in-law, W.T (Mary) Smith, California; niece, Jill (Josh) Blankinship; nephew, Wayne (Patty) Smith; great-nephews, Noah, Lucas, Tom; and great-nieces, Samantha and Lizzy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, Larry, Candace; and sister, Margaret.
The family will receive visitors from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
Jake’s funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at the funeral home with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
