Obituary of Milton R. "Sloopy" Sloop
Milton R. “Sloopy” Sloop, 75, Gas City, passed away at 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2019, in his home. Born in Fleming County, Kentucky, on December 9, 1943, Milton was the son of Raymond and Opal (Prater) Sloop.
Sloopy had worked as a machine attendant at Thomson Consumer Electronics for almost 40 years, retiring in 2000. He enjoyed camping, riding his golf cart, and building model cars. He had owned several cars over the years and loved going to car shows. He will be remembered as a good-hearted man who loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Tisha (Brandon) Bizar, FL; grandchildren: Carter Smith, FL; Taylor Smith, FL; Mackenzie Brennan, FL; Coby Jae Shearer, Gas City; and Catava Shearer, Gas City; sisters, Linda Shearer, Gas City, and Janet (Larry) Fansler, Gas City; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond (Opal) Sloop, and his brother, Gerald Sloop.
The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, June 10, 2019, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
Following visitation, Sloopy’s funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. with Pastor Brian Mauller officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
