Obituary of Robert "Bob" Lee Drook
Robert “Bob” Lee Drook, born in Sweetser to Paul and Emma (Colier) Drook, Sr., on December 13, 1942, passed away at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Wesleyan Health Care Center in Marion. He was 76 years old.
On November 5, 1965, Bob married Laura Bowman, and they faithfully set aside every Saturday night as their “date night”. Bob was very talented in fixing and repairing things. He began working in the maintenance department with Marion Community Schools and then finished out his career at the Grant County Complex. He retired in 2003.
Archery was one of Bob’s passions, and he regularly attended archery competitions. He also taught others how to shoot the bow. He enjoyed rummaging, restoring antiques, and working in his yard. Most of all, Bob’s family was his life. He loved to reminisce about them, as well as his friends. If his kids and grandkids had a sporting event, he was there. He was a constant in their lives. He will leave a legacy of love, care, dedication, and commitment.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 54 years, Laura; daughters, Londa Yeakle, Naples, FL, and Tilenna (Chris Sollars) Drook, Marion; son, Shane Drook, Marion; grandchildren, Tara (Ryan) McDonald, Chelsie (Sam Holloway) Yeakle, Bre Yeakle, Alexis (Reece) Carter, Jordan Drook, Shaelind Sollars, Braden (Sophie Orell) Drook, Clayton Drook, Raven Sollars, and Camden Drook; great-grandchildren, Lillian, Gracie, Garret, Markele, Cade, Emersyn, Emmie, Abbie, Katie, Harper, Auslynn, Dalilah, and Harley; brother, Forest (Gloria) Drook; sisters, Joan Johnson and Agnes Smith; dog, Khaleesi; and special friend, Dave McMillan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul (Emma) Drook, Sr.; daughter, Lillian Drook; brothers, Paul Drook, Jr., David Drook, and Richard Drook; sisters, Frances Tomlinson and Delores; and special friends, Mike VanLandingham, Sam VanLandingham, Buford Bullard, and Butch Johnson.
The family will receive visitors from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2019, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
