Obituary of Teresa "Terry" A. Amsbury
Teresa “Terry” (Glessner) Amsbury, 63, Swayzee, passed away at 12:59 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2019, at Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo. A lifetime resident of Swayzee, Terry was born on May 10, 1956, to William E. Glessner, who survives, and to Phyllis Glessner, who preceded her in death.
Terry was a graduate of Oak Hill High School and attended Fort Wayne Business College. She married her husband, Kenneth E. Amsbury, Sr., on August 22, 1994. Teresa’s passion for cooking led her to open up her own restaurant. She was owner/operator of Country Inn in Swayzee for several years before becoming owner/operator of Depot Express Restaurant. Cooking at her restaurants was one of her greatest joys. She thoroughly enjoyed associating with customers.
She loved her dogs, going to casinos and flea markets, playing scratch-offs, and traveling to Brown County, Florida, and Las Vegas. Terry was a member of Herbst UMC.
Survivors include her father, William E. (Rosie) Glessner; daughter, Carrie Oswalt, Fishers; brothers, Mark (Jill) Glessner, Swayzee, and Jon (Tammy) Glessner, Swayzee; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Her mother, Phyllis Glessner, and grandmothers, Eva Glessner and Esther Whiteman, preceded her in death.
The family will receive visitors from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2019, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Rybolt Chapel, 314 N. Washington St., Swayzee, IN.
A funeral service to celebrate Terry’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 24, 2019, at the funeral home with Pastor Jeremy Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Thrailkill Cemetery.
