Obituary of Donna Rose Mallison
On Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at 10:48 p.m., Donna Rose Mallison was welcomed by her Lord and Savior as she entered Heaven. Born on February 9, 1931, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Donna was the daughter of Donald and Rosa (Councell) Cochran. She met her husband, Robert Mallison, Sr., at Hastings Manufacturing in Hastings, Michigan, and they were married on May 30, 1969.
Donna was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family. They enjoyed many times at the lake when everyone lived in Michigan. She enjoyed metal detecting, and especially finding class rings and items that she could return to the owners. She also liked just getting in the car and traveling to various places.
Donna lived her life modeling the love of Christ and sharing the gospel with others. She was often considered a prayer warrior and had indicated that “one of you needs to step up”. She enjoyed studying Bible prophecy, teaching both Sunday School and Wednesday night children’s church, and singing gospel music with her husband. She attended Back Creek Wesleyan Church until she was unable to due to her health.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Robert; children: Terri (Robert) Bird, Freeport, MI; Howard Paul (June) Clawson, Wakefield, MI; Sherri (Glenn) Taggart, Marion; Robert (Norma) Mallison, Jr., Marion; Debra (Philip) Parker, Marion; James (Lisa) Mallison, Ironwood, MI; foster children: Julie Mallison, Tina Langelle, Kevin Hammond, Corey Hammond; 22 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; brother: Roscoe (Jeanette) Cochran, Gailsberg, MI; and sisters: Winnie Like, Plainwell, MI; Marge Bird, Old Town, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marla Bird; and brother, Roy Cochran.
The family will receive visitors from 2 to 3 p.m. with Donna’s funeral service beginning at 3 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2019, at Back Creek Wesleyan Church, 10971 SE 00 W., Fairmount, IN. Pastor Ben Parker will be officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
