Obituary of Betty Irene Foust
Betty Irene (Moore) Foust, 91, passed away peacefully at her home of 74 years and 43 days on April 14, 2019. She was born in Marion on March 26, 1928. Betty married Robert E. Foust on March 2, 1946, and enjoyed 41 years of marriage until his passing on September 16, 1987.
Betty was a 60-year member of Hanfield United Methodist Church and Hanfield UM Women. A charter member of Banquo Queen Bees Home Demonstration Club for decades until its dissolution, she was dedicated to the club’s motto of “Home, Family, Community.” She loved working in her yard, taking long walks, and traveling and camping with her husband, family, and friends. Her proudest personal accomplishment was earning her General Equivalency Diploma at age 43 on July 21, 1971.
Betty will be remembered for her giving spirit, helping and visiting with friends and relatives, and celebrating the good times. She enjoyed having her grandchildren for sleepovers when they were young and loved watching her great-grandchildren play. Three of them named her “Happy Grandma.”
Survivors include three children: Robert E. Foust, Jr. and wife, Karen; Patricia Bragg and husband, Richard; and Linda Foust, all from Marion. Grandchildren: Carl Foust and wife, Courtney, Jonesboro; Emily Madsen, Marion; Adam Bragg and wife, Michele, Upland; Amanda Bragg and husband, Kim Smith, Rosedale, MD; Katie Miller and husband, Ryan, Marion; Sara Balderas and husband, Chuck, Marion; Bradley Butcher and fiancee’ Deborah Straley, Marion. Great-grandchildren: Chase Madsen, Tristan Foust, Penelope Foust, Kai Bragg, Andrew Bragg, Nicholas Bragg, Tyler Bragg, Kaylee Miller, Logan Miller, Aden Balderas, and Baby Balderas on the way; step-great-granddaughters, Kim Straley and Kayla Straley and step-great-great-grandchildren, Adalyn, Jaxson and Sophia Straley. She also enjoyed many nephews and nieces. Other survivors include siblings, Marjorie Fetrow and Stephen Mills and wife, Judi, Marion, and Margaret Ann Miller, Texas. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Martha Porter, Marion.
Siblings Donald Moore, James Moore, and Dorothy Wilson passed before her.
The family will receive visitors from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion. At 6 p.m., family and friends will have a celebration service for Betty. Private graveside rites will take place at a later date.
