Obituary of Bernice F. Wham

Bernice Frymier Wham, 100, made her transition on Monday, April 1, 2019, at Parkview Hospice in Fort Wayne.  She was born to Louis and Blanche (Dagger) Mespell on July 15, 1918, in Petrel, South Dakota, and moved at age 3 to Iron Mountain, Michigan. 

Bernice graduated in 1935 from Kingsford High School (Kingsford, Michigan) and attended Penglase Business College in Iron Mountain.  She worked as a secretary for the state of Michigan in Marquette and Detroit; at the Gas City Journal; and at the Veterans Hospital in Marion.

Bernice played the piano for several dance studios; for over 50 years for Jonesboro Presbyterian Church; and for the Holiday Travel Resort Church in Leesburg, Florida.

Survivors are one son, Don (Bev) Frymier; 2 daughters: Beverly Bromelmeier, Fort Wayne, and Linda Watkins, Clarksville; 7 grandchildren: Troy (Pam) Frymier, Fort Wayne; Dana (Dan Jones) Bromelmeier, Fort Wayne; Casi (Michael Walsh) Bromelmeier, Fort Wayne, Pepper (Tom Brown) Bromelmeier, MI; Greg (Kim) Watkins, Jefferson Town, KY; Lisa (Paul) Mattingly-Kraft, Albany; and Deborah Watkins, Albany; 11 great-grandchildren: Taylor (Meredith) Frymier, Lafayette; Christopher (Deia) McNamara, Lafayette; Carissa McNamara, Fort Wayne; Austin Johnson Fort Wayne; Hayley Wiggins, Fort Wayne; Megan Brown, MI; Dylan Bromelmeier, MI; Heather Watkins, Amie Watkins, Trey Mattingly, and Vincent Watkins, all from Clarksville; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and 2 special nieces: Connie Zuber, Fort Wayne, and Candy Lauber, New Haven.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.

A memorial visitation for Bernice will take place from 12 noon to 1 p.m. with her memorial service beginning at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2019, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.  Burial will follow at Marion National Cemetery.
