Obituary of Mildred J. Medows
Mildred J. Medows, who just turned 104 years of age, received her eternal reward on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at Aperion Care in Marion. She is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.
On March 18, 1915, Mildred was born in Weedville, Pennsylvania, and was the daughter of Rex B. and Lena Runae (Brown) Gray. She was blessed with a long life and was privileged to have been married twice. Her first husband was Losey J. Winslow, whom she married in 1932. Following his death, she married Denny Medows, and he preceded her in death in 2003.
She was a homemaker throughout her life but also served as the custodian at College Wesleyan Church for several years. Mildred attended Converse Church of Christ, and she loved to sing and play piano. She enjoyed growing roses, reading, and traveling.
Survivors include her children: Joan (David) Spargo, Marion; Verna (Glenn) Irwin, MI; Terrance (Minnie) Winslow, MO; Rev. Esther Holmes, MS; step-son, Rev. Robert (Pam) Medows, Hartford City; in-laws, Sue Medows, Jackie Medows, and Mary Medows; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and two husbands, she was preceded in death by her son, L.J. (Penny) Winslow, Jr., and her step-sons, Ben (Julia) Medows, James Medows, Charles Medows, and Kenneth Medows.
The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Mildred’s funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2019, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. Rev. Esther Holmes will be officiating with burial following at Grant Memorial Park.
