James Joseph Metz

James Joseph Metz, 88, Marion, passed away in his home at 3:27 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2019. Born in Manhattan, New York, on October 12, 1930, James was the son of the late Harold Joseph and Mary Rita (Komara) McGuigan. He married Barbara A. Woods in 1959, and she preceded him in death in 2001.
James served in the U.S. Air Force from 1947 to 1971, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a member of the Huntington American Legion Post 7, and SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Huntington. James also served on the St. Martin dePorres Board of Directors.
He was the founder of Fabulous 105 Catering, as well as Senior Support Services Health Care. He also owned and operated B&K in Wabash and Oscoda, Michigan.
James was an avid Colts fan. He was a great handyman, and he loved to do DIY work and woodworking. He had an extremely smart business mind and could pretty much “do it all”. What a wonderful blessing he was to so many people.
He is survived by his sons: James J. (Sabrina) Metz, Converse; Robert B. (Joyce) Metz, Springhill, TN; Kevin J. (Ruby) Metz, Kokomo; Jerome W. (Sherry) Metz, Marion; grandchildren, Michael Metz, Petra Nelson, Todd Metz, Rachel (Eric) Butcher, Melissa (Miles) Eppley, Libby (Matt) Hales, Kassandra (Justin) Harden, Brian (Trisha) Metz, Emily Herbert, Kiley (Matthew) Stokes, Erik Metz, Evan Metz, Joseph (Bridget) Metz; great-grandchildren, Liem, Kayson, Savanna, Kaleb, Gabe, Connor, Colton, Bridgette, Lucas, Andrew, Emma, Maddie, Samuel, Isaac, Everett, Wes, Gabriel, Aurora, Taylor, Greyson, Maine, Sutton, Fallon, Artemis. brothers, Joseph and Thomas Metz, Johnny McGuigan; and sister, Gerri Moran.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Metz; and son, Michael Metz.
The family will receive visitors from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
James’ funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at the funeral home with burial following at Gardens of Memory.
