On March 24, 2019, at 3:50 a.m., Steven P. Blaser passed away in his Marion home. A lifelong resident of Marion, Steve was born on September 16, 1947, to the late Glenn and Joy (Ross) Blaser.
A veteran of the U.S. Army 173rd Airborne Brigade and a Tunnel Rat while in Vietnam, Steve was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and AMVETS. Following his military service, he retired from Chrysler, where he was a job setter, and he was also retired from the VA Northern Indiana Healthcare System, where he worked in dietetics.
Steve married Brenda Hovis in 1972, and they had three children: John, Brad, and Summer. He loved spending time outside, drinking his Corona, and smoking cigarettes. He also loved listening to music.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda; sons: John Blaser, Marion; Brad (Mickey) Blaser, Gas City; daughter, Summer (Brad) Wright, Marion; grandchildren, Sierra Hamilton and Tristen Blaser; great-grandchildren, Addison, Ashlyn, and Izzabella; brother, Bruce Blaser, Fairmount; special nephew, Joshua (Jenna) McCormick, NC; several nieces and nephews; and many other family members.
The family will receive visitors from 4 to 6 p.m. with Steve’s funeral service beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN. Rev. Dr. Tom Mansbarger will be officiating.
