Obituary of Nathan Markland Toy

Nathan Markland Toy, 44, Marion, passed away in his home at 7:31 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2019.  He was born in Marion on October 20, 1974, to Rick E. Toy and Debra K. Kelly.  On March 30, 1996, he married his loving wife, April Burnside, and she survives.

Nathan was a self-employed painter for his company, Nathan Toy Painting and Wall Covering.  Nathan enjoyed hunting, attending heavy metal concerts, spending time on the beach, drag racing, riding his Harley-Davidson, and watching boxing.  He also enjoyed watching his daughter play softball.

He was an outgoing, humble man and others would never hear a bad thing from him.  He loved his family, especially his girls, and enjoyed making people laugh.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 23 years, April; daughters: Alexandra (fiancé, Tracy King and his daughter, Cayen) Toy, Marion; Bayli Toy, Marion; sister, Dawn (Mark) Gibbs; nieces and nephews, Tiffany Roberts, Nicolas W. Toy II, Tatum Roberts, Audrey McCollum, Allyssa McKinney, and Addison McKinney; sister-in-law, Amanda (Bryan) McKinney; in-laws, Joan (Mike) Moss, Randy (Peggy) Burnside; grandmother, Margarett Toy-Smith; grandparents-in-law, Percy and Ella Hochstedler; several aunts and uncles; and special friends, Ed Stallsmith and James Hawk.

Preceding him in death were his brother, Nicolas W. Toy, and grandmother, Betty Kelly.

The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with Nathan’s funeral service beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.  Bill Sparks will be officiating.
