Obituary of John T. Niccum
John T. Niccum Sr., 65, died at 3:59 p.m. Tuesday in St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
He was born in Frankton to the late Lester M. and Viola L. (Noe) Niccum. He was raised in Elwood and lived in Marion since 1966. He married Loretta M. Wood on Oct. 26, 1960. She survives.
He was employed at General Motors in the salvage department for 30 years before retiring in 1995. He was member of the Jonesboro Masonic Lodge 109 since 1981 and served as past worshipful master. He served with the Marines from 1956 to 1960, stationed in twenty nine Palms, Calif., and was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1961 to 1964. John enjoyed his grandchildren, and hunting and fishing.
Additional survivors include daughters, Ellen (Steve) Partenheimer and Teresa (Ron) Heagy, both of Marion; sons, John T. Niccum Jr., Marion, and Marc (Nahid) Adams, Nevada; grandchildren, Amanda, Kimberly, Kegan, Justin, Alex, Cody, Dawn and Andrew; a great-grandchild; siblings, Penny (Floyd) Wolf, Frankfort, Raymond (Connie) Niccum, Bowling Green, Ky., and Dennis (Sharon) Niccum, Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by four brothers; three sisters; and several half-brothers and sisters.
Services with military rites are at 11 a.m. Saturday in Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Avenue, with the Rev. Marcus Combs and Chaplain George Sullivan-Davis officiating. Burial is in Estates of Serenity cemetery. Masonic services are at 7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.
