Obituary of Harold Richard Joy

Harold Richard Joy, 72, died at 5:15 p.m. Sunday in Colonial Oaks Health Care Center, Marion.

He was born in Three Rivers, Mich., and had been a resident of the Marion area for many years. He married Marilyn Cramer on April 5, 1975; she survives. He retired from General Motors in 1988 after 33½ years. He was an Army staff sergeant and a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Lakeview Wesleyan Church and the United Auto Workers Local 977, Marion. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and remodeling his three homes. He and his wife wintered in Brooksville, Fla.

Additional survivors include sons, Lorn (Gloria) Joy, Lacy Springs, Ala., and Richard (Margaret Ann) Joy, Marion; daughter, Diana (Michael) Kerlin, Landess; stepchildren, Gordon (Jackie) Cramer, Lebanon, Ronald (Brenda) Cramer, Somerset, and Julie (Richard) Pulley, Sheridan; brothers, Lee (Doris) Joy, Pierceton, Dale (Joyce) Joy, North Manchester, and Ralph (Barbara) Joy, Kissimmee, Fla.; sister, Elizabeth (Sonny) Peters, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by brothers, George and Henry Joy; and sisters, Nancy Joy, Marjorie Breisch and Amaryllis Joy.

Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, with Robert McIntyre officiating. Burial is in Grant Memorial Park cemetery, Marion.
