Earl F. Davis, 87, Marion, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 9:45 a.m. on Monday, June 24, 2019. He was born in Whitley County on February 19, 1932, to Charles E. Davis and Edna (Bowman) Messler. On January 12, 1957, he married his loving wife, Theda McGlothin, and she survives.
Earl was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. Following his military service, he was a supervisor at Dana Corp and retired after 38 years. He was a member of Mt. Olive UMC, Elks Country Club, and Van Buren American Legion. He enjoyed golfing and bowling.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Theda; daughter, Kathy (Ted) Secrest, Marion; grandchildren: Shawn (Paige) Lawrence, Greenfield; Craig (Irina) Lawrence, Fishers, Jennifer (Josh) Jones, Marion; and Michelle (Andrew) Turner, Jonesboro; 8 great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren; brothers: Harry (Sherry) Messler, Marion, and Richard (Jeanette) Messler, Marion; sisters, Grace (Roger) Hannah, Marion, and Evelyn Pendley, Rochester; and brothers-in-law: Carl (Jane) McGlothin, Mt. Sterling, KY, and Richard Hatton.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Davis; mother and step-father, Edna (Harry) Messler; daughter, Kimberly Lawrence; brother, Jack Davis; sisters, Louise Wilson and Connie Hatton; and brother-in-law, Mickey Pendley.
The family will receive visitors from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
A funeral service to celebrate Earl’s life will be held at the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2019. Pastor Doug Barton will be officiating with burial following at Grant Memorial Park.
