Alfred Thomas Corbin, 90, Colonial Oaks Retirement Community, died on May 10, 2019. He was born on November 4, 1928, in Bath County, Kentucky. He married Jessica Christine Cain on August 17, 1950, in Carlisle, Kentucky, and she died on July 23, 2005.
A devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Alfred was a retiree of General Motors in Marion. Traveling with his wife, his best friend, and lifelong companion for 55 years was one of his greatest joys. Visiting with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was very important to him. He enjoyed working in his house and yard, walking, and visiting with friends and family.
Alfred had been an active member of First Christian Church in Gas City for over 58 years. He served as a deacon, elder, Chairman of the Property Committee, Chairman of the Elders, and Chairman of the Board. He also taught an adult Sunday School class.
Survivors include daughters, Mary (Robert) Harris, New Albany, and Nancy (C. Wayne) Davies, Indianapolis; son, Russell (Tami) Corbin, Gas City; grandchildren, Daniel Harris, Jeffrey Harris, Douglas (Heather) Davies, Benjamin Davies, Rebecca (Matthew Straine) Davies, Alex Corbin, Caitlyn (Taylor) Stump, and Allison Powell; great-grandchildren, Christian Harris, Jon Davies, Thomas Davies, Valerie Davies, Callie Powell, Landry Powell, and Mia Stump; sister-in-law, Jo Ann Corbin; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessica Christine Corbin; parents, Russell and Olivia Corbin; brother, Earl Corbin; and close friend and companion, Luella Deal.
The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
A funeral service to celebrate Alfred’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at First Christian Church, 401 E. N. “D” St., Gas City, IN. Pastor David Shephard will be officiating with burial following at Gardens of Memory.
