Theodore “Ted” Anderson, age 78, from Marion, passed away at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2019, at VA Northern Indiana Health Care System in Marion. A lifelong resident of Marion, Ted was born on July 14, 1940, to William O. and Flossie O. (Grover) Anderson.
Ted was a 1959 graduate of Marion High School and, four years later, enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served his country for two years as a military policeman and achieved the rank of Specialist 4. He was awarded the Rifle M-1 Sharpshooter, Pistol Marksman, Rifle M-14 Sharpshooter, and Good Conduct medals. In 1993, he retired from Chrysler in Kokomo after 20 years of service. He had previously worked at General Tire and Redi Mix.
Ted enjoyed tinkering on cars and his tractor. He also liked tending to his lawn and fishing. He was a giving man, who donated to several organizations over the years. Above all, Ted appreciated and cared for his family.
He is survived by his siblings: Norma (Verlin) Strickland, Marion; Barbara (late Darrell) Vardaman, Marion; Doris (Brad) Phillips, Marion; John (Nancy) Anderson, Marion; Robert Anderson, Marion; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William O. Anderson, Jr..
The family will receive visitors from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, 2019, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Ted’s funeral service will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, May 13, 2019, at the funeral home. Rev. Dr. Tom Mansbarger will be officiating with burial following at Estates of Serenity.
