Obituary of Charleen Walser
Charleen Katherine Walser, 79, Marion, died at 8:40 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Wesleyan Health Care Center in Marion. She was born in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Joseph and Charlotte (Robert) Neubauer. Charleen married John William Walser in 1962, and he survives.
Charleen was a U.S. Army veteran and served her country from November 1958 to January 1961. She achieved the rank of Sp4 (Medical Specialist). Following her military service, she worked in several nursing homes, which included 25 years as a Quality Medicine Assistant (QMA) at Bradner Village in Marion.
Collecting landscapes and cross stitching were some of Charleen's favorite hobbies. She also enjoyed arts and crafts and was an avid reader. She loved reading her Bible every day.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her daughters, Diane Workman, Goshen, and Sheri (Ricky) Jackson) Walser, Goshen; grandchildren, Joseph Workman, Stephanie Workman, Christopher Workman, Ricky Walser, Natasha Walser, and Isaiah (Breanna) Jackson; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were her son, William J. Walser; sisters, Clara Palmer and Janet Davis; and brother, Joseph Robert Neubauer.
The family will receive visitors from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 16, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City.
Services to celebrate Charleen's life will begin at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Jerry Landis officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park in Marion.
